FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
what is letterpress?
Letterpress is a centuries-old relief printing art form that presses a raised, inked image into paper to create a one-of-a-kind impression. At Dahlia Press, every project is printed entirely by hand on a antique printing press - making each piece completely unique. In our technical age, letterpress is a rare hand-craft. The small variations in inking, color, and position are a hallmark of authenticity and greatly add to the beauty and value of each piece.
what type of paper do you use?
Dahlia Press uses 100% cotton, Crane Lettra tree-free paper for all letterpress printing. Our 110lb weight house stock is everyone's favorite and available in three beautiful shades of white. We are also happy to create custom options made from 220lb weight Lettra. Digital projects are printed on Mohawk Superfine paper and also available in a variety of beautiful white shades. Visit our Paper + Press page to learn more.
is there a minimum order?
Due to the hand-crafted nature of our work, we only require a minimum order of 25 invitations. Please refer to the Pricing + Payment catalog for more information. We love to work in partnership with our customers and are usually able to accommodate almost any request. For example: If you only need 37 invitations, do not feel that you must order 50. Give us a call and find out all the different ways we can make your letterpress dream a reality!
do you offer embellishments?
Yes! We love to add ribbons, enclosures and wraps to our invitations! Please visit our Embellishments page to learn more.
what other methods of printing do you offer?

Are you in the Seattle area? If so, we are happy to hand deliver your order! If you are outside the Seattle area we ship USPS Priority Mail with tracking. Do you prefer another shipping method? No problem - just give us a call and we will happily find a way that works for you.
will you proofread my design?
We are always happy to give advice to help make your letterpress piece perfect! However, the final proofreading responsibility is yours. We will always give you a final design to approve so you can catch any errors before we begin printing.
will you print a design by another graphic designer?
Yes, when time permits in our schedule we accept designs prepared outside of Dahlia Press. Just give us a call to discuss availability and file prep requirements.
